Time and Tense

Time

Time is a universal, non-linguistic concept with three divisions: past,present and future; by tense we understand the correspondence between the form of the verb and our concept of our concept of time.

Time is divided in three types

1: Past Time
2: Present Time
3: Future Time

In polite request for present time past tense is used.

for example =>
(a) Could you help me ?
(b) Did you want to see me?
(c) I wanted to talk to you.
(d) It is going to rain.
(e) Milk is white.
One To One Example =>
(a) I hope the train isn’t late. (Present tense,future time)
(b) Tomorrow is Saturday. (Present tense,future time)
(c) You have ruined my dress. (Present tense,past time)
(d) Could I smoke in here? (Past tense,present time)
(e) The sun rises in the east. (Present tense, present,past and future time)

Modern grammarians के अनुसार अंग्रेजी में दो tense होते है: PRESENT TENSE तथा PAST TENSE इन दो tense forms से ही present, past तथा future time का बोध होता है।
For example-
(a) He is quite well today.
(b) Yesterday she was sick.
