Rutgers, Cornell to name new courses, renovations ahead of ‘big season’
NEWARK — Rutgers University will begin renovations on its popular Centennial Golf Course and Cornell University will soon be opening new courses at the school’s former headquarters.
The university announced Tuesday that the former Princeton-based college of engineering will begin work on the new campus, known as the Center for Accelerating Innovation.
The project, which is being spearheaded by Cornell University and New Jersey-based developer WME-IMG, will add more than 1,500 students, 50 employees and $5.4 million to the school.
The project also will add approximately 2,400 square feet of new office space and 150 parking spaces, according to the university.
Rutgers also plans to begin work in 2021 on a $10 million expansion of the John R. McCormick Center for Advanced Technology, which has been in the works for about five years.
The McCormick building, a former military barracks, is a symbol of Rutgers’ promise to create jobs, boost innovation and develop new energy technologies.
The building was built in the 1970s to house the university’s engineering faculty.
In a press release announcing the Centennial renovations, the university said the project is part of a broader plan to boost economic development and attract new visitors.
It is part, the release said, of a plan to attract new business and investors and bring more people to the city and region.RUGBY UNIVERSITY CENTENNIAL TOURNAMENT BEGINNINGSJACKSON, N.J. — The first of two “Big Spring” events that will take place on campus this spring will feature the first of three golf tournaments.

However, no agreement has been reached and the teams have remained adamant that players are not paid for concussions.
The current policy allows players to receive compensation from the league when a concussion occurs, but it also provides for
